Happy Sunday, Cleveland.
Today looks like one of those Sundays where you really don’t need an elaborate plan.
81 degrees. Mostly cloudy. Baseball downtown. Markets on the West Side. Free live music. And one of Cleveland’s biggest celebrations of culture happening completely FREE.
Meanwhile, across SWJ Affordable Stays, we have eight rooms available today.
So whether you’re a road warrior passing through Cleveland, working in town this week, coming to see family, catching a Guardians game, or simply looking for an affordable place to sleep tonight, here’s what Cleveland has going on.
🌎 TODAY’S BIG PICK: ONE WORLD DAY
80th Annual One World Day — FREE
📍 Cleveland Cultural Gardens
📅 Today — Sunday, August 30
🕚 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
💲 FREE admission
This is the one we’d put at the top of today’s list.
The 80th Annual One World Day celebrates the dozens of cultures that make Northeast Ohio what it is.
And it’s not some little gathering.
Last year’s event drew more than 35,000 people, according to the organizers. Today’s celebration includes a Parade of Flags, live music and dance, cultural exhibits, authentic foods, children’s programming and activities throughout the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. (Cleveland One World Day)
The Parade of Flags starts at noon, traveling from the Ethiopian Cultural Garden toward Centennial Peace Plaza and the Lithuanian Cultural Garden. (Cleveland One World Day)
For families, there’s also the Passport to Peace program and Children’s Village, designed to let kids explore different countries and cultures while actually having fun doing it. (Cleveland Cultural Gardens)
Cost to get in?
$0.
That’s our kind of Cleveland Sunday.

🥕 WEST SIDE SUNDAY: KAMM’S CORNERS FARMERS MARKET
Don’t want downtown?
Stay west.
Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market
📍 16906 Albers Avenue
🕙 10:00 AM–1:00 PM
Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market is celebrating its 20th season this year.
You’ll find locally grown produce, baked goods, artisan products and rotating vendors, along with kids’ activities and community programming. (Kamm’s Neighborhood Development)
It’s not an attraction built for tourists.
It’s a neighborhood doing Sunday.
And sometimes that’s a much better way to experience Cleveland.
🥖 AND YES, THE WEST SIDE MARKET IS OPEN
West Side Market
📍 1979 West 25th Street — Ohio City
🕙 10:00 AM–4:00 PM today
If you’re staying with us and haven’t been yet, this remains one of the easiest recommendations we can make.
The West Side Market has operated since 1912 and today houses about 60 small businesses selling produce, meats, seafood, baked goods, prepared foods and specialty products. (Cleveland’s West Side Market)
And here’s a nice affordable-traveler detail:
Parking at the Market is free for the first 90 minutes while the Market is open. (Cleveland’s West Side Market)
Walk around.
Eat something.
Buy something weird.
Take pictures of that beautiful building.
Explore Ohio City.
That’s a Cleveland afternoon.

There you go.
👨👩👧 WHAT WOULD WE DO WITH KIDS TODAY?
Easy.
One World Day.
It’s free, there are performances, dozens of cultures to discover, the Passport to Peace program and children’s activities. (Cleveland Cultural Gardens)
Or make it a baseball afternoon: Guardians Kids Fun Day at 1:40 PM. (Ticketmaster US)
And if everybody still has energy tonight?
Take them down to the lake.
🙋 TRAVELING ALONE?
This is something we think about because plenty of SWJ guests aren’t traveling as couples or families.
You’re here for work.
You’re between assignments.
You drove into Cleveland yesterday and don’t know anybody.
Fine.
Go to the West Side Market.
Walk Ohio City.
Head over to One World Day.
You can walk through an enormous cultural festival without needing a group.
Or tonight, grab something to eat and sit at Voinovich Park for the free concert.
You don’t need a Cleveland itinerary to enjoy Cleveland.
🌊 OR DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Seriously.
It’s going to be around 81°F today, with mostly cloudy skies.
Go to Edgewater.
Walk along Lake Erie.
Bring a chair.
Read something.
Watch people.
Take the skyline picture everybody takes.
Then go home.
Admission: $0.
Sometimes affordable travel means realizing you don’t have to purchase an experience every four hours.
🏡 EIGHT SWJ ROOMS AVAILABLE TODAY
And now our little contribution to today’s Cleveland equation.
We have 8 rooms available across SWJ Affordable Stays today.
Eight.
That means there are still options for someone deciding at the last minute:
“You know what? I’m staying in Cleveland tonight.”
Our accommodations vary by residence and availability, including:
🛏️ Private rooms
For travelers who primarily need a clean, comfortable private space while sharing certain common areas.
🚿 Private suites
More private accommodations, including options with their own private bathrooms.
🏠 Longer-stay options
For road warriors, working professionals and guests who aren’t merely visiting Cleveland for Saturday night.
Because that’s a big part of who stays with us.
Somebody might be here today for the Guardians.
The person in the next room might be working at MetroHealth tomorrow morning.
Another guest might be staying for several weeks.
Someone else may simply be driving between Chicago and New York and decided Cleveland was the right place to stop.
Different travelers.
Different budgets.
Different reasons for being here.
Same basic promise:
A clean bed. Clean sheets. Complimentary water when you arrive. Wi-Fi. Convenient Cleveland locations. And an affordable place to call home for however long you’re here.
💰 AFFORDABLE IS THE POINT
We use that word intentionally.
Not cheap.
Affordable.
Because accommodations are only one part of a trip.
Maybe you’d rather spend your money taking your kids to a baseball game.
Maybe you’re working here and would rather keep your per diem.
Maybe you’re staying five days and don’t particularly want five nights of hotel pricing.
Maybe you’re visiting somebody at the hospital.
Maybe you just don’t believe sleeping should be the most expensive activity of your day.
We get it.
Book however works best for you.
Book direct.
Use Airbnb.
Compare the options.
Do your thing.
We’re here when the math works for you.
